Softplay is a playground, usually indoors, where children can experience age-appropriate play and exploration. These areas include climbing structures, slides, tunnels, bridges, ball pools and toys made of many different soft materials, often with colorful and fun designs.
The purpose of such playgrounds is to develop children’s physical skills as well as to support motor skills such as coordination, balance, strength and flexibility. Soft surfaces and toys allow children to be less injured in a fall or collision.
In addition, softplay areas help children develop their social interaction skills. It enables them to gain skills such as communicating, sharing, cooperating and problem solving with other children. These areas often have zones separated by age groups so that children of all ages can do activities suitable for their level.
